I recently had to visit Mysore to attend a friends marriage. Having had a bad experience with a popular hotel in the same city during my previous visit I decided to try out a new hotel - Hotel Ginger. Coming from the Tata Group I was hoping the hotel will live up to my expectations and it truly did it and more. The Ginger group of hotels is branded as a hotel where you got to help yourself.First thing you can do is book your room online. The hotel encourages this medium of booking by giving you a handsome discount for online bookings (Rs. 50/- is the discount I got).
So if you have your trip well planned out you can do the online booking before starting out on your journey and if you have forgottten this and if you are the always connected types then just hook up the laptop in front of the reception and book the room. (I havent tried this but you could give it a shot!)Next thing you will notice when you enter the hotel premises is that there are no waiter to carry your luggage, instead you have trolleys that you can use to carry all your luggage to the room.
No waiters in this hotel so you save yourself the chai pani money (I usually end up spending about 200-300 on those tips during each of my trips). So there is a good amount of savings there.Once you enter the hotel lobby you will feel the pleasent ambience and the courteous staff behind the reception desk. Checkin usually takes less than 10 mins and you get a swipe card to your room once you finish the signing formalities. So you carry your luggage all the way upto your room (thanks to the good soul that invented trolleys). The rooms are well laid our.
They are not too big but just about the right size. Everything is spick and span. There is just enough stuff that you need and nothing more - you have a small fridge, a closet with hangers, a bottle of mineral water, a pencil, a writing pad, good comfortable chair and desk and a tea/coffee maker with the usually stuff (tea bags, sugar, etc etc), a flat panel lcd tv and to top it all a very very cosy bed.The rooms have individual A/Cs which can be controlled by a remote by the occupants. Coming to the bathrooms they are in line with everything else - spick and span. You have a towel, two napkins and a shower cap. One thing that might catch your immediate attention is the absence of a bucket or a mug.
Yeah they are not part of the deal and you cannot request them additionally either. The shower is all youve got. There is hot water round the clock so no worries about calling the reception/waiter everytime you need the geyser to be switched on. Also if you discover you forgot to bring along your paste or brush or soap you can always buy them from the reception anytime of the day. Isnt that nice! Those were the things you notice but what you might not notice is that the hotel has WiFi.
So if youve got the bucks you get pretty good connectivity (100/- per hour I guess). If you think that is too much there is also a cyber cafe within the hotel premises for use. The hotel also has a gym, a restaurant and a meeting place. I have used only the restaurant so I cannot comment on the other stuff. The restaurant is again cleanly maintained and well lit. You dont really have much choice in the menu as they have a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The items are fresh and tasty. Worth the money you pay.All in all I think they offer the best for the money you pay. At under 1000/- you cannot really ask for more.
