Murder Story -Broken the expectations

Chetan Bhagat’s recently released novel, ’the girl in room 105’ which he mentioned, like is new genre he is trying. This genre doesnt actually suits to him.

Actually the story is revolves around a kashmiri-muslim girl, Zara. And her ex-boyfriend, current boyfriend, illegal relationship military man, her father, her brother etc.

The author portrayed Zara’s character a very bad way in my opinion. though this is crime thriller and detective type story, its somewhat predictable from the starting. As there are only few characters we can predict 80 to 90 percent this is the criminal. He includes the terrorism in kashmir in this story here and there. KeshavRajpurohit ex-boyfriend of zara is suspecting that police have arrested a innocent person(watchman) as a killer, but actually he doesnt do this murder. He started digging the case with his friend Golu and they tried to find the actual murderer. On his research of case, he started discovering more about zara and her affair with a family man even though she is in relationship with the IIT graduated gold medalist Raghu. In the mean time they discover her step brother who is a terrorist as one of the suspect and stepbrother will commit suicide in the fear that he will be caught by the police.

Finally they found out that Raghu did this murder after discovering the illegal affair she is having with militaryman. As in his company 50 percent shares are with zara, he cant do breakup with her, then she might not be returning her shares, only if she dies, Raghu can take her shares. So he will plan and execute the murder on her birthday. Story is okay and its predicatable and little boring. It doesnt meet the expectations(unexpected twists and turns) of the crime thriller stories reader, in my view
