I had just heard about the book not knowing what is it all about. My friend happened to buy this book and was not reading so gave me. It has a wonderful start. The author has tried to depict the violence against women in Sweden by creating a fictional story. It has 3 main characters.
Harriet Vanger who disappeared 36 years back without a trace. His uncle suspects murder. He has been following it for 36 years now and cant still find a motive or clue.
Mikael Blokmovist a financial reporter running a magazine -MILLENIUM and has now been charged with treason and is out of work.
He is hired to search the motive and the killer behind the murder og Harriet.
-Lisbeth Salander - A kind of outcast and asocial but with a photographic memory and gifted detective skills assist Mikael on this journey. She herself has a past and has dealt with sexual abuse.
Using Harriet and Salander the author has portrayed 2 girls who in Sweden have suffered the torture and the outcome it leads too.
The author never let the murder mystery take a back seat .He has woven the story beautifully with the facts prevalent in Sweden.
A must read for all murder mystery fans. Some of the heinous crimes described sends a chill down the spine.Sadly the author is no longer alive to write more books.
Will read the other 2 book of the series.
