Though Stieg Larsson was new to the world of Fiction, however he was the master of Fiction. What I heard was this guy went to many publisher with all the three manuscript of his three novels (the first being the "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") and asked them to publish all but with the gap of few months.
However though none of the publisher initially published them but one published his trilogy and rest is the history. Though He died in 2004 and sadly we cannot get much from the master.
Now coming back to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, theplot though initially seems no way near a thriller, suddenly converts into a mystery when Lisbeth Salander, the geek with extraordinary tattoo and Millenium magazine publisher Mikael Blomkvist, search for the lost niece of the Henrik Vanger old tycoon.
It goes with many ups and downs and somewhere seems little stretched, but in total a complete book. Larsson is not a great story teller but if you are fond of mysteries and thriller I can bet that after James Hadler Chase, this guy was full of promises however he didnt live long.
The center of the story is the Girl, who for the world is a psychopath however she works for the security agency and does the background checks that too with the perfection.
Seems weird however thats how the world is, and Larsson has taken the characters from the common world and I guess he believed that everyone cannot be just taken from their face value and everyone has some special skills or bizarre. In his fiction it was the Lisbeth who being psychopath for the world was more than normal and normal tycoons family was full of mysteries that too scary.
I read this book within a week as it has over 550 pages and little over 50 characters. Little disappointment is this is a translation and sometimes you feel like English is all messed up. But you can safely ignore minute mistakes here and there.
I have now started "The Girl who played with the fire" Till I finish it and write review for that, have thrilling reading.
