This movie is more of a teaser, where Director has used sensational theme of lesbianism to attract viewers. (Fire, also potraied the same..but Girlfriend is based more on emotion less skin show)
Karan Razdan (Director) could have done a lot more justice to the movie, by bringing out emotions and feelings of a lesbian. How do they feel, to what extent is their feeling justified ? He could have taken leads from Fire(Shabana Azmi, Nandita Das). Or taking a cue from Shabnam Mausi(Eunuch) Character..played by Nirmal Pandey...I guess.
This movie gives you a feeling of Deja vu..can you recollect , Pyar tune kya kiya (Urmila , Fardeen, Sonali Kulkarni).
Briefly, telling you the story.. Sapna(Amrita Arora) and Tanya (Isha Koppikar) are college friends, both are party gals..believe in daaru - shaaru.
Rahul (Ashish Chaudhary) falls for Tanya in a party. Easily pataos her by same old trick of Raat bhar tere ghar ke saamney. Then follows coo-chi-coo and 2-3 songs.
Tanya getting possesive about Sapna. Rahul start getting hints that she is a Lesbian. He asks Sapna, if shes straight? Sapna too commits, one night when they were fully talli, it happened. But it was just an accident. Tanya creates misunderstanding between Sapna and Rahul.
Tanya is also endowed with Akshay kumar styled martial arts..so she bashes our poor guy. And finally... as usual Rahul and Sapna lives happily ever after.
Isha koppikar(Tanya) has made some nice muscles for this movie and brilliantly aped Urmila Matondkar. Yes, She has nicely depicted the picture of a psycho...but we have seen it enough in virtually all Urmila movies. Moreover, is lesbianism all about mental imbalance? I doubt...
Ashish Chaudhary(Rahul) didnt have much scope to perform. Still he managed to copy some shades of Shahrukh . Amrita Raos performance was again average. Kudos to her at least she is natural.
There are too many songs..all equally irritating. Suno to jana jana is only nice one. After interval, movie is a complete drag. Good for despos..not worth watching for intellectuals wanting to see emotional drama like Fire. PLEASE DONT GO WITH FAMILY.
