For about 6yrs I was a regular traveller of Gitanjali Express between Tatanagar(Jamshedpur)and Nagpur.The wonderful journeys that I undertook by this train during my college days have to be amongst my best journeys in rail.
Generally a big group of friends would be there and we would begin the journey at around 4.30am -5.00pm, and we used to reach in the next morning at around 7-7.30am.
The old ’’chaiwallah’’ with his famous negative marketing pitch..’’kharab se kharab chai pijiye’’ who was a regular between Tatanagar & Rourkela stations...gave the people the best tea that was possible ....during the journey.
Another feature of this journey was the undulating tunnels & rivers in the same leg of the journey...a must watch for the nature freaks...and we used to sit at the door for the best views.
The Gitanjali Express is one of the most prestigious trains in the east and among the fast trains that run in Indian railways.Now it has been made still faster as it reaches the same distance within 13hrs against the previous 15hrs.
All in all a great train to travel with good facilities less stops and good speed.
