In July 2006, I purchased a 3-burner Glen cooktop for my mother. She is now 81 years old, and in infirm health, so I was looking for something that would eliminate the need for matches to light the stove. Regular piezo-electric gas lighters(or the old fashioned flint-stone kind) didnt work for her, due to the difficulty of pushing the trigger button.
The Glen battery-powered self-start ignition proved to be just the thing for her. She has used the cooktop for 2 years now, with a fair share of spills and accidents. The auto ignition mechanism has worked quite satisfactorily, with the exception of a few minor hiccups. The cooktop itself is quite pleasant to look at and use, and in terms of aesthetics, it is streets ahead of most competitors that I have seen.
Based on my experiences, I am willing to recommend this brand. Indeed, I am about to purchase one for my mothers younger sister. And believe me, Glen did NOT pay me to write this review!
