My family and I bought an electric chimney for the kitchen of our new home. We were under the impression that Glen was a reputable brand. While the installation of the chimney proceeded very smoothly, without any problems, it was the after sales service that was atrocious! I guess once money changes hands, the needs of the customer are no longer important!
6 months after installing the chimney, my dad and I planned to get it cleaned by calling customer care and since we had availed of a 6 year warranty, we thought that the chimney cleaning charges won’t be very much. Over the next two weeks, we constantly tried getting in touch with Glen India customer care, by using the all India phone number 1800-180-1998, to no avail! I then tried to fill in an online form, to register a’service complaint’. 3 days later, I received an email from a lady customer care executive, who told me that she will be forwarding my complaint to the technical team. And that was the last I heard from her! No’technical team’ ever contacted me!
My dad being the resourceful person he is, managed to get in touch with the original dealer who sold this chimney to us and requested him to send someone for the clean up operation.
When someone from Glen, finally came to our home to clean our chimney, my poor dad had to(this makes me so angry!) deal with one of the rudest and most foul mouthed technicians ever! During the clean up operation, he actually demanded a fee of Rs. 900(just to clean the chimney and fit a new light bulb, as one of the chimney’s light bulbs had stopped working!) and he even had the gall to order my dad around and address him rudely by demanding warm water, detergent and rags to clean the chimney! My dad rightfully lost his temper and after a heated argument with customer care, refused to pay him any money! The technician left in a huff and thankfully, never returned!
My dad and I got the job done, through an external house keeping service provider who we found on the internet!
Bottom line: From my experience, Glen chimneys work well. But after sales services are awful!
