I am bemused how an Airline can consistently keep its fares at such low levels despite the sprialling ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel). Its simply difficult to comprehend the logistics behind continuing with such low fares.
Anyway passengers like me have benefitted imensely by this service. I had purchased a counter ticket for a flight from Kochi to Mumbai and found that the rates were similar to fares of other Airlines. But if I had booked the same around a week ago I could complete a round trip at the same cost. I realized this only when I recommended this Airline to my Company’s Chief Executive who booked a connecting flight from Kochi to Delhi via Mumbai. He was astounded by the difference in fares between the Go Air and other Air Lines. So much so that he asked me to accompany him to Delhi. We had a productive meeting with our clients in Delhi and enjoyed some shopping too.
Given an opportunity to fly anywhere I would prefer Go Air. However I would like to make a suggestion. I have felt that the timings for the Kochi-Mumbai sector are not exactly rational. The flight departs from Kochi in the evening and reaches Mumbai at around 21.00 hours. Hence an entire day is wasted and passengers like me generally visit Mumbai only for a day’s work and prefer to return by night on the very day. This leads to savings on hotel accomodation costs which are sky high in Mumbai. Earlier in the year I had to attend an interview in Mumbai (I was looking for a change) and the company offered me 2nd A/C Railway tickets. I could have travelled by Go Air had the flight timings been flexible enough to encourage me to make the decision. Instead I flew by an early morning Indian Flight and reached back home the same night.
The on board service is as expected no frills affair. You are charged for anything you would like to eat or drink. That’s understandable. The planes seem to be taken on lease from South American Countries. I hope that they dont compromise on the quality and maintenance of the planes to bring down the price.
Overall a good Airline to fly frequently.
