I would like to make aware, of a personal experience which has not only taken me by sheer surprise but also left a bitter taste…
Last evening I intended to book two Pune – Delhi flight tickets, online, for February 16 th. After having specified my preferences, the GOAIR website prompted that I would incur an expenditure of Rs.6200 for the air tickets. However, due to certain limitations, I was unable to book these tickets online.
I immediately decided to head for the Pune Airport and book my tickets at the GOAIR Counter itself. On reaching the Airport approximately an hour later, I approached the ground staff at the GOAIR Counter and gave him the same specifications.
I was told that the tickets for the same flight, departing on the same date and time, would cost me Rs.7135!
When I expressed my discomfort to the staff, another passenger at the counter chipped in to say that he was sailing in the same boat as I… he was paying Rs.500 more than what the website had mentioned for a flight to Chennai on the same night.
On requesting the staff to re confirm, I was curtly told that that was "the fare that the system was flashing!"
I, obviously, didnt book my tickets…
What amazes me is that an airline that calls itself a "LOW COST AIRLINE" could increase their prices by 1000 odd bucks in a matter of 45 minutes.
Today morning, I logged onto the GOAIR website…it still tells me that the cost would be Rs.6200….
I would not term this as a reaction, but rather a request for information with concern to the exorbitant fluctuation in the fares.
