I had a very bad experience of booking my ticket on Go Air through cleartrip.com. The sequence of event of my experience today has been as follows:
I booked the ticket of my Father ( Binod Prasad Sinha), My Mother ( Savita Rani Sinha) and my Sister ( Rukmani Sinha) on a return ticket from Ranchi to New Delhi with Journey dates specified as 13th November from Ranchi to New Delhi and 23rd November from New Delhi to Ranchi.
The trip id given to be was 1210211125 and 1209161319 and I was charged INR 29, 877 for the said booking.
Post booking I realized that 13th we have Deepawali and hence called the customer care to amend my booking from 13th to 14th of November.
I was told that apart from INR 29, 877, I will have to pay INR 6134 as extra. The breakup being INR 2220 for extra fare of Airlines, INR 3000 as amendment charges by Airlines, INR 900 as Cleartrip charges and INR 14 as taxes. I paid the said amount through my Citibank Credit Card and called the customer care again who confirmed that within 30 minutes, the Amended ticket will be sent to me.
In the meanwhile, the Plan got reworked and I called up Cleartrip to cancel the tickets.. To my utter surprise, I was told that While I can cancel my ticket, there will be No refund given to me. I was taken on a con call with Go Air who endorsed the same.
I was completely shocked with the statement and the reason why I booked "Go Air" was because it showed "Refundable" against its price.
When I brought the same to the notice of the customer care executive, I was told to ready the terms & conditions mentioned in the terms & Conditions.
My simple question: "Why are you showing refundable against the Go - Air price?"
The customer care executive had no valid reason and when I said, I would want to speak with your chairman, I was put on hold and then after 15 minutes I was told "as a special case we are refunding your money for onward journey but we will not refund any money for your return"
My question: Why will you not return any money for my return when it is showing refundable against that too?
I was given a very stupid answer which I fail to accept.
I was told "Sir you amended your ticket so you will not get any money for your return travel"
I asked him" you mean to say I paid INR 2200 extra as a fare difference, INR 3000 as the cancellation fee, 900 as cleartip charges and 14 as tax and that is why you will not return anything? Am I right and he said "Yes Sir, you are right"
I am being penalized by Go Air & Cleartrip for paying extra for the amendment. If I would not have amended the ticket, I would have got the complete return....
What kind of Policy is this? Is there any logic in what is being conveyed? I bought my ticket from my hard earned money and I will not allow any one to snatch it through fraudulent means.Whom should the matter be taken to? A senior personal at Cleartrip or with the consumer forum?
