Ive taken the GoAir flight operating between Kolkata - Port Blair couple of weeks back (went on 24th January 2012, returned via 28th flight). On both occasions, I was struck by the efficiency of their operation (their flights do land well before time - by the scheduled time of arrival, we had collected our luggage and were outside the airport!).
Also, the somewhat negative online reviews about GoAir translates to a sparsely populated flight, so youd have plenty of space for your luggage, and can have the pick of the seats(we got 4th row window seats on both occasions!)
Two things I need to point out to to any potential travelers:
1) Dont make the mistake of upgrading to "Business" - the said business class consists of the front 2 seat rows, which are ABSOLUTELY identical to the 3rd, 4th rows(in terms of proximity to washrooms, entry/exit, the window view) which you can request for and get provided you arrive early enough to the airport! The only added perk is "hot meals" which you can purchase for 100-150(the upgrade to Business class costs 2500!)
2) Do recall that unlike other LCCs like Indigo, SpiceJet which offer drinking water in paper cups free of cost as many times you need it, here theres no such thing - you have to shell out 20-25 bucks for a measly 500 ml bottle! Also, the meals leave much to be desired - grab sandwiches from the airport if you find nothing on the way, itd be cheaper and better than the in-flight meals!
All in all, the best part of GoAir is their cheap pricing and on-time operations - the only things I expect from a LCC!
