Particularly good in Systems and Marketing. Nice library. Good IT back bone. Wi-Fi enabled. Needs to be strong in operations area. I can’t comment on HR as I am not well acquainted with the subject and the fac. Marketing has some really good faculty. But brand management course needs to be better communicated to the students which is at times perceived to be a lot of English
Ghettoism in groupism, but a congenial place to enrich yourself if you have a personal sense of rational initiative.
Nice place to study. A congenial atmosphere you could say. Placement cell needs to rethink its policies and focus on the main events such as the finals and summers in instead of mindless ego massaging talks with dignitaries who get an excuse to vacation in Goa. .
The SAC needs to cut down on General body meetings which I personally think is a platform for mindless yelling, posturing and unnecessary politics. In my time, it was a platform to jointly compose a message to bapu (Founder, Fr D’souza’) and much of mindless yelling, posturing and unnecessary politics.
Presently GIM has changed quite a bit, with new classrooms coming up, average placement salary has doubled, and smarter individualistic students have made their way in. Future promises to be good.
GIM is one of the fastest growing schools in India with an increasingly respected brand name which does not rely on B school polls and ranking. It needs to maintain this stance.
One last word. During the course of academic tenure, a student is expected to run several live short-term projects for almost all the courses. While, several student groups have been able to secure the projects through personal contacts, much of the batch has to cold call on companies based in goa. Rarely does any group from GIM submit a copy of its research to the patron organization. Now it is not surprising that many groups are denied projects in organizations that have had the taste of earlier batches.
Now again, GIM preaches networking to be of the utmost value. While, the talks and the placement present GIM nicely to external (outside Goa) companies, perhaps it is time for the students to realize a tad of plain courtesy and a bit of commonsense and be more amiable towards the companies which help them in the course of their education while at Goa.
