I went to Goa in January.I had been to goa before but couldnt enjoy it the way I wanted to. This time we were well prepared for it.Me and my wife started from Bangalore around 6PM by KSRTC Volvo. Ticket was around 700rs. Somehow managed to board the bus.It was nick of time(thanks to Bangalore traffic).KSRTC volvo was nice and we reached panajim around 8 AM.I had a hotel booked through yatra.com in Calangute..I hired a taxi who charged me 300 rs.We booked Royal Heritage resort in Naika Vaddu(plz ignore my spelling). When we came to the hotel it looked ok from outside. But when we entered the room it was not that good. But if u are planning to stay out most of the time then its fine.Bathroom was disappointing as they tried to fit it everything on top of another.A very very tiny bathroom with a bathtub in it.So imagine.Rate was 1100 per day for this hotel.People are ok but ull get proper attention if you are not an Indian.
Hotel room had an AC and the hotel has a swimming pool as well. They said its 10 mins walk from the calangute beach. So we just dumped our luggage there and started walking towards the beach. After sometime we realized that its not walkable distance.never believe if somebody says their hotel is 10 mins walk from the beach. We were tired of walking. We had lunch on a Tibetan restaurant close to the beach.Food was horrible and they charged around 200rs per plate(which is not at all worth). We came back to hotel and asked for a 2 wheeler straightaway. They charged rs 250 per day for honda activa. Our life became lot easier after that.We had food in several resturants their but I didnt like the food.Let me tell you here im a non-vegetarian and my wife is vegetarian and we are foodie too.So we tasted veg and non-veg both wherever we went.We found one Punjabi restaurant close to calangute panchayat office which was great. I loved the food their and price was reasonable too.meal for 2 will cost u around 150-200.In other places itll be minimum 500 without alcohol. We roamed all the beaches close to calangute. I hated BAGA as it was too crowded. We didnt have place to stand. Some shacks on the calangute beach were excellent. I loved the food specially prawns and mushroom their.Alcohol (especially beer) is cheap. So u can keep on pouring.
Water sports are one of the major thing where u can get cheated.Touts will come and start from 3000 for per person for 1 sport. And u might end up at 600 for 2 for 2-3 sports or 700-800 for a couple for all the sports they have their. But be little careful when u pay the money. Please keep a track on them.
Best food we had in Anjuna beach.before you enter the beach road there is a 4 lane crossing. Right in front youll find Shivas resturant. It might not look very attractive from outside but we were fortunate enough to try that restaurant. The lady(owner) cooks the food and believe me it was the best food in goa. Especially prawns, just cant forget the taste what we had.
After 4 days stay, we came back to Bangalore. From hotel to airport the taxi took around 750 rs.It was a good tour. We enjoyed it. Didnt go for much sightseeing as we had been to goa before. But ild not like to go to Goa anymore as it was too crowded and its not it was before.Best part of goa is its really safe. And a tip. Please use lots and lots of sunscreen else u might not recognize yourself once you come back.
Hope this review will help you all. Have a wonderful tour.
Thanks :)
