This is the second telugu movie for director Sekhar.K who created sensation with Anand two years back. Now he is back with Godavari, with his same old heroine Kamalinee Mukherjee, music director K.M.Radhakrishnan with Godavari, except for Sumanth as the hero. This movie came with a caption, Ee Vesavi Chaala Challaga Untundi..., means this summers gonna be very cool. But its just cool not very cool.
Story:Sreeram(Sumanth)is a chap who completed software engineering in US.He is a weird character who wants to join politics to clean the country!!!!He helps everyone in need...even spends his last rupee for others. When he is questioned, Why do you want to join the politics? He replies, Why?Am I not a citizen of India??Doesnt we have the responsibility to clean the country??Seems like he got very much inspired from Rang De Basanti!! Seeta(Kamalinee)is a wanna be independent girl. She tries to be independent but ends up depending on her family.Sreeram likes his niece Raaji(Neetu Chandra)very much.He wants to marry her but she thinks he is not the right guy for her.She gets engaged to an I.P.S officer and her marriage is to be done in Bhadrachalam. The marriage troop starts their journey from Rajamundry to Bhadrachalam in a big launchi in the river Godavari and Seeta is their co-passenger.Soon, the hero and heroine meet and as usual, become good friends and the rest of the story is predictable.
Performances:Sumanth is good as Sreeram. His body language suited to the role of Sreeram but his characterisation is not good.In fact its not well etched.
Kamalinee as Seeta is good. Her character is somewhat better than her role in Anand. She acted well and singer Sunitha dubbed her voice in this movie as well.In fact, i feel that her dubbing for Kamalinee in Anand is a major cause for Kamalinee winning the prestigious Nandi award for her role in Anand.I wish her another one for this movie as well!
Neetu Chandra is ok as the confused girl who changes her decisions minute by minute.
Others:The kid is extremely good in his role.Bharani is as usual ok as the captain of the boat. There is also the character of a dog throughout the movie. Its a graphical one in some scenes and real in some scenes whose voice is dubbed by the director Sekhar himself...hey, wait a second..the dog does not really speak with the humans.Instead the voice is just for what it thinks and says in its language which we dont understand(all are not doctor Dolittles)!!
Songs:Just ok to listen. The orchestra for these songs is just like a re-hash of Anand songs. They sound same like Anand songs. They should have been better and different.
Photography is superb. Many beautiful locales are well captured in the camera.
Screenplay is good except for some unnecessary includings like the action scene in the second half.
Overall, a well made movie.Watch it for a great experience....
