I first got introduced to Godfather when I saw it on DD a long time back. Around 12 yrs back (I dont have a great memory but It was around that time!!!) . It was a 13 episode series and I ahd decided that Ill definitely own this stuff !!!
Barah Saal baad ...
My search for Godfather had just reached a pinnacle when I spotted the Godfather Trilogy Collectors VCD on indiatimes.com . Immediately ordered it ... but it got lost in transit :-( Anyway, they promptly sent another set . And I watched the entire movie (175 Minutes) on the same evening . That was yesterday. And now I am dying to see the Part II and Part III (They are sitting comfortably @ my home right now).
The movie is just CLASS. Everything from the soundtrack ... to the dialogues....from the locales ... to the action sequences .... from the actors .... to their acting . Just CLASS. I would also recommend the song Speak Softly Love by Andy Williams to all (Godfather) Lovers.
Marlon Brando has given a terrific performance as The Don Corleone and so has Al Pacino as Michael, the good guy. The background score, esp when Michael is in hiding in Italy, is just stupendous (O.K ...I agree that I just love that song by Andy Williams. Cant stop myself !!!!). James Caan as Santino has given in a decent performance . Esp the way he gets angry on his brother-in-law. Diane Keaton as Kay(Michaels wife) may have a small role nevertheless significant. The scenes after Brandos death clearly depicts the change that Michael has undergone. The movie ends with Michael telling a lie to Kay, leaving something unexplained ... for the later parts.
