Stunned into reading!

I came here to see if there were others who enjoyed reading Godfather as much as I did, and i’m so glad to see that every single rating here has been positive. the book really has a great deal to offer, to its readers. the first thing that captivates you is its story line. Fed up of reading about Arabian princes, and Texan ’Don Pepes’, this book takes us into a reality that is at once ruthless, and cold-blooded, and yet so humane and believable, as we see the life of a Mafia Don and his family simultaneously, through glamorised and ready-to-believe-it eyes. the persons here, be it Don Corleone, or Tom Hagen, are so human. the story is not just about the life of the Don, but also a description of how circumstances make a simple man in a poor locality, revolt against and rise above what could probably have been a destiny of misery, if he had chosen to become a mute spectator of life’s drama. his rise thereafter, his realising of his potential, and his his grooming of his family and affairs into following the path ’he’ creates, show what a man of steel he is. its is his convictions, and strength of character that not only help him to overcome the death of his eldest son Santino ( does he really ever?), and move on from merely losing his family to the ’war-craving’ Tataglia’s, to his final act of sly avenging of all professional and personal losses, as well as handing over whatever is left of his power and dynamism, in the ’right’ hands of his youngest son Michael Corleone.

And if you really want to know how the plot unfolds, or what happens in the end, I suggest you go right ahead and find out for yourself, by reading the book.

And just remember to be amazed at how well a fiction writer can understand and express the psyche of a Mafia Clan! Hats off to Godfather Vito Corleone, and his exemplary creator Mario Puzo.

Infact I have begun to believe what the Don said: Every Man Has But One Destiny( and no matter what you do, life is bound to take you that way!). I say this because I think it was the destiny of the author to write with such insight about the Mafia for us, and to win our applause!
