This wonder can be best described as Total Value for money. I got exactly, no, more than, what I was looking for!
BACKGROUND
As a bachelor, I always had troubles in getting my clothes washed so I thought of buying a washing machine. I wanted to go for a Fully Automatic machine but my finances did not allow me to go for a 18K+ device. So, I considered on buying a semi-auto machine instead, that would cost me around 9-10K.
While looking for one, I saw this dream machine from Godrej: fully automatic, Fuzzy Logic, digital, blah, blah, blah… for just 12K! I could not believe that a fully auto machine could be available for that price. I enquired about the machine all around… checked Mouthshut as well, but no info was available. Some dealers even advised against it. But by going through the manual, Godrej website, etc… I finally played the gamble and bought it.
Around eight months have passed from that day… and I am glad that I have bought it!
REVIEW
I wont tell you about the technical features the machine offers. You can always check them at Godrej website (https://godrejappliances.com/washingmachine/gdf1201.htm).
However, what I can say is that it has given me a 150% solution to my problem. Its inexpensive, feature rich, washes my clothes ;) and most of all its very user friendly.
Some might argue that it does not match the features of a Front-loading IFB machine. Agreed, but who actually wants all those cryptic features? Moreover, the IFB machines start at frigging 18000/- bucks and you only get a decent one at 22000 plus!
Its been said that the deciding feature about a washing machine buying decision is whether it is front loading or top loading. Here are some points about them that I consider important:
Front-Loading
Supposedly front loading ones give you a cleaner output but again they have their own set of problems like they need to be run with 90-100% capacity. You cant add/remove clothes once the operation has started.
You have to use the specified washing powder for best results and powder dispensing is also automatic. You might say it is a good feature but my experience says otherwise. It eventually uses extra powder…
Top-Loading
Gives you a clean output (I’m not sure, if they are more or less cleaner than the front loading ones). Good part is… you can add/remove any clothes at any given time. You can even run it with one or two clothes.
You can add washing powder at your free will. You can change the quantity/Quality of powder depending on the clothes you have put in. Sometimes, when I wash clothes that do not need much Ariel Cleaning (like household cleaning cloth, etc) I use some different (cheap) powder. Being a bachelor, sometimes I have just 2 shirts plus one T shirt that I need to wash, that can be very easily done with this wash machine. Just fill it, switch it… and forget it! I can choose to put Ariel or Wheel depending on the importance/value of clothes put in. No hassles! It is a very handy thing; you can trust me on this!
The Bottom line is I got a Fully-Automatic-Fuzzy-logic-5-litre machine at 12K and its working fine for past eight months and I say it is worth every penny I paid!
Some might argue that its Fuzzy logic is not so fuzzy (intelligent) as an IFB/Samsung machine (because of the cost factor)… I say you might be right, but again, who cares!
One last point, unlike other machines, it comes with a 5-year service warranty (do read the fine print though!).
Thanks!
