I bought a Godrej 1.2 T Window a/c last week after an extensive research on the internet incl. reviews on this website and visits to a few dealerships in Chennai. I am quite happy with the product as well as with the speed of delivery & quality of installation.
I chose Godrej over other brands like Samsung, LG, Onida & Voltas mainly because of the fol., reasons;
Godrej has 1.2 T instead of the regular 1 Ton. Hence it has higher BTU - 14300 vis-a-vis 12000 of other brands - hence cooling capacity is more.
My room is 135 sq.ft for which a 1 Ton wld not suffice and a 1.5 T wld be more than reqd. Hence a 1.2 T ideally fits my reqt.
Despite a higher BTU, Godrej has a noise level of only 45 dB vis-a-vis 48 - 55 dB for most other brands.
4.Godrej uses a Japanese compressor. I’m not sure if it is made in Japan or China but being a Japanese brand I perceive it to be better than Korean / Chinese brands.
- It’s Energy Efficiency is 10.55 which is higher than many other brands.
5.Price is very reasonable and you get a 1.2 T for the price of a 1T.
- All said & done, I have the happiness of buying an Indian brand.
PURCHASE Experience:
After visiting several large delaerships & retail chains who needed 2 - 3 days for delivery, I bought the unit from Iceberg Engineers in Adyar, Chennai. The unit was delivered within 4 hrs of ordering and was installed the same evening. My room did not have a provision for the window a/c and hence the window grill had to be cut and window doors also had to be cut and adjusted to fit the a/c . The carpenter who came did a meticulous job and within about 4 hrs the unit was fully in place and running.
PERFORMANCE:
So far, the a/c has been running well and cools the room reasonably fast and the noise level is low. Ofcourse it is too early to judge the performance. But I feel I have made a good choice. I only hope that the service backup would be as good as the purchase experience.
