On the occasion of Diwali, the Company put its stall in our society displaying their product. I enquired about the product (refrigerator) and given to understand that this stall is for the benefit of the customers and with a view to increase the customer base through direct selling. The sales executive came to my house and given the assurances on durability, excellant after sales services, low pricing, incentives if I buy the product worth Rs.2400/- etc. etc. The refrigerator was delivered on time i.e. on 20th October, 2006 and that was the only assurance fulfilled by the company. I paid an amount of Rs.11800/- alongwith my old working refrigerator for this product. The refrigerator never worked properly from the very first day. The problems were non-functioning of lock system, extra-ordinary heating on both sides of the refrigerator, uneven body on both sides, freezing was spread all over the refrigerator etc. After all this problems, when I tried to contact the executives who had prompted me to go for the product I failed as the numbers given by them were either switched off or out of coverage area. When I approached the Service Department and lodged all the complaints, one technician used to call me and confirm as to when he should come to recitfy the problem but that fellow did not turn up on the given time. At last I requested the service department to replace the refrigerator but no action was taken on my request. Thereafter I wrote to the Chairman of the Company through e-mail detailing all my complaints on 7th November, 2006, I got a return e-mail that they are sorry to note all these problems with the product and they will get back to me after checking all the records. Thereafter I received calls from various executives of the company and every time they asked to specify the problems I am facing despite the fact that I have written my detailed complaint to them. I was given the verbal assurance by one executive on 13 November, 2006 that they are preparing my papers for replacement and the needful will be done in a day or two. But so far nothing has taken place. He was silent about the other issues involved like cost of the product, the incentives promised to be given and the loss I suffered from the date of delivery of the refrigerator and the date of its replacement.
Given my experience with Godrej, I would recommend that no one should go for buying the product of this company.
