We had an old single door Godrej that we bought back in 1980 and it worked great till date.Then when we decided to upgrade to a newer model we chose the Double door pentacool series.
The paint job looked cool with the metallic door color, but the Build Quality of the product looks like it was made in some cheap Chinese factory and the "Godrej" and "PentaCool" stickers were slapped onto it in India
That was the biggest mistake! Within a year we have had to change the light bulb thrice.
The insulation is lousy and we see powder falling on the insides.
The Frost free section seems to also have a few problems because every day or two the cold air also blows in fruit flies that we find on over ripe bananas.Its disgusting!
The Bottom Front plastic panel under the mail door is a cheap grade of fragile plastic that cracked when a water bottle fell on it some time ago.
We complained to the company. the technician says that the flies are due to an infestation in the evaporation tray at the back near the compressor, and the insulation leakage and powder does not affect the working in any way.
Then a few weeks ago they told us since the warranty was over, they could do nothing as cosmetic damages were not covered and the Fridge was technically "working" as required .
They advised us to trade it in and get a Rs.1000 discount on a new Eon range Godrej fridge.
We naturally declined.
Some time ago we went to Big Bazaar and saw Finex DVD Players priced at Rs.1800 and Koryo AC’s priced at Rs 7990.
Four weeks later the same products with the Godrej badge were available priced at Rs.2600 and Rs10, 000 respectively.
The same Products almost side by side, same specs, same quality, same thing except the branding on the product and the boxes was Godrej instead of the unknown brand.
When I asked the sales person, he said that the only difference was the name and the warranty offered.But he left it to us to decide what we needed.
We are fed up and think its been a waste of money.Buyers beware!
