If you want to have Chat in Hyderabad, there is only one place I can think of. Gokul Chat, Koti. My mouth is already watering just at the thought of those hot mirchi-bajjis, dahi papdis, cutlets, samosas....mmmm....
When Gokul first set up its shop in Koti, it was a small one equal to other kirana shops in size. The customers had to stand towards the road while the chat used to be prepared inside the shop. All of us used to block the footpath. This definitely worked against the efforts of The Corporation to keep the footpath free for pedestrians. But the pedestrians themselves enjoyed being blocked by the unmistakable aroma of hot and fresh cutlets being prepared.
And invariably everyone ended up in the shop for atleast two items. Out of the two, cutlet was sureshot! Now, Gokul has slowly expanded his operations. First floor and second floor and I dont know what his extent of spread is right now! The best apart about gokul is that inspite of having expanded so much, his quality remains the same.
Its still an extremely enjoyable experience to go out to gokul gobble in a few items. and on our way back home, pack the remaining ones which we werent able to eat because of capacity constraints!! ;-)) This is one of the numerous places in Hyderabad which offers excellent food for optimum prices.
I wont say he is cheap. He is definitely not costly. The last I had been to Gokul, a plate of mirchi bajji cost me Rs.12/-. With his quality, its justifiable. My recommendation is the Dahi Papdi. Try it! Its out of the world!
