No frills - excellent food - moderate cost....that is Golden Dragon in a snapshot. If you like good Chinese food - but don’t want to pay a huge deal - Golden Dragon is there for you.
I am a Calcuttan for the last 30 yrs and stayed there till 2000. I had been an addict of their Thai Soup, Chilli Roast Pork and Mixed Fried Rice. No matter if you are a vegetarian - you’ll like their veg dishes too, but frankly the non-veg items takes the cake!!
I used to frequent the place at least once a week - if not more. The old gentleman at the counter - well he had not changed since last 15 yrs - and I guess the original Chinese waiters changed, but food quality remains the same.
Keeping the prices relatively stable over a period of 15+ yrs without drop in quality is no small feat! I guess the restaurant concentrates on providing good food alone - minus the frills and thrills of the other biggies on Park Street (Peter Cat/Mogambo/Waldorf/Blue Fox, etc).
I am a die-hard fan of their Thai soup - I have been to countless Chinese restaurants in New Delhi/Hyderabad/US (New Jersey & NY) but nooooooo....
None have the flavour ’’quite the same’’ or better than good old Golden Dragon...
If you are non-veg, if you like good food, if you are visiting Calcutta, do visit Golden Dragon.
(BTW - I am NOT a relative/friend of the owners of Golden Dragon, just a simple food enthusiast)....
