The Golden Temple, Amritsar, India also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib ( Abode of God ) and Darbar sahib ( Exalted Court ) is not only a central religious place of Sikhs, but also a symbol of human brotherhood and equality.

The foundation stone of the auspicious Golden Temple was laid by a famous Sufi saint Mian Mir. This was done to spread a message that this sacred Gurudwara is open to all faiths. Everybody irrespective of the caste, creed or race can seek spiritual solace and religious fulfilment without any hindrance.

The Golden Temple has been awarded the 'MOST VISITED PLACE IN THE WORLD'by WORLD BOOK OF RECORDS ( WBR ) .

Golden Temple is one of the famous pilgrimage spots in India. Harmandir Sahib not only attracts the Indians to visit this beautiful holy temple but also a huge number of foreigners. The authorities of Sri Harmandir Sahib maintains seven Nivas Asthans for the pilgrims and even for the visitors their are a number of shops on the way to GOLDEN TEMPLE. Visitors can buy excellent religious and cultural items and can taste the authentic food of Punjab ( Kulche Cholle, Makke Ki Roti with Sarso ka Saag and many more ) from the shops and hotels near Golden Temple.

Golden Temple provides free food facilities known as ( Langar ) to all the visitors inside it.
