A fun film ...

Bollywood is turning towards comedies these days. And churning out a comic package is emerging as a tested formula to make the film successful. But does every comedy succeed at the box office? Of course not .Thankfully Golmaal gets it right ..

Golmaal is about four childhood friends- Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Mahadev (Arshad Warsi) and Laxmi (Sharman Joshi).Sharman is the most studious one among them. They fail throughout their career and don’t allow Sharman to pass college.Tusshar plays a mute character but is the most cunning .Arshad plays an unemployed family type of guy who wants to become an actor. That’s why he keeps imitating actors. And since all of them are unemployed they can’t afford a car or individual bikes, so they have this special custom made 4-seater bike. And all the four of them live on donations and borrowed moneyThey stay at a boys’ hostel, but are eventually expelled. They enter Paresh Rawal’s house as paying guests. Paresh and his wife are visually-impaired while Rimii plays their neighbour .

Golmaal is one of the best comedies to come out in recent times. Rohit Shetty has managed to assemble a crew that has worked wonders for the film’s well-thought out plot.

Ajay’s scenes with trio are superb to watch. They tickle your funny bone. The first half of the movie is laced with the excellent comic sequences to stay with. Frankly, the second half loses film’s importance a bit because of putting many new characters forcibly into the narrative.

Ajay delivers a superb performance with a comic punch. His flawless timing, hilarious facial expressions, fantatsic body language and side-splitting delivery is all in full form here. One can easily say that he is one of the films major highlights!

Tusshar innocence looks help his character and he is a absolute natural. His delivery has improved and his facial expressions are well done too. Arshad plays his character with absolute precision and his body language is absolutely hilarious.Sharman does quite well .

Vishal-Shekhar helps the film with hit number ’Jaane Kyon’ .Dialogues by Neerajare great and some are genuinely funny-specially those delivered by Ajay .

Technically the film is slick and camerawork perfectly captures the bright mood and ambience of the movie very well. Action too is well canned.

Worth a watch ...
