Giving a movie a tagline like ‘Fun Unlimited’ is a risky thing, and can be given only to some movies, which provide unlimited entertainment. Golmaal is one of them!

The story of the movie: Laxman (Sharman Joshi) is a college student, who also accommodated his friends Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Lucky (Tushaar) and Madhav (Arshad Warsi) in his room, without the knowledge of the college Principal (Manoj Joshi). But the Principal came to knew the truth when these four friends were making money by leaking the exam paper. Laxman was expelled from the college, so also his three friends. But luck was still with them! They discover a bungalow inhabited by two blind couple (Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee), who were waiting for their grandson Sameer to return from USA. Gopal decides a plan-he enters the bungalow pretending to be Sameer. His three friends also enter, without the knowledge of the blind couple! What follows next are humorous twists and turns, that will surely gonna make you laugh!

Though Golmaal is not the funniest movie of Bollywood, it succeeds because of its original jokes, excellent performances and fine music. The first half is more humorous as compared to the second half. The movie is of 2 ½ hours but it moves with such a fast pace that no one would get bored.

Ajay Devgan rocks! While watching promos, I had a feeling that Ajay might disappoint this time and that comedy movies is not his cup of tea. But all my doubts about him vanished as I came out of the theatre! Great work Ajay!

Arshad Warsi was outstanding! For this guy, comedy is something, which is natural! Throughout the movie, he acts easily and confidently, thus proving his capability!

Sharman Joshi acts excellently. He was humorous, especially in the scene where he hides his face from Manoj Joshi in the second half. Tushaar was surprisingly great. He plays a mute character here and satisfies by getting into the skin of his character. Really, Tushaar’s performance in Golmaal can be rated as one of the best performance of his career!

Paresh Rawal was fine. He acts very nicely, especially in the song ‘Kyon Aage Piche’. Rimii (as Nirali) doesn’t have much to do in the movie. But overall, she was good. Sushmita Mukherjee was okay.

Mukesh Tiwari was wasted. His role was not important and doesn’t give and award winning performance! Sanjay Mishra was okay. Manoj Joshi was funny. Vrajesh Hirjee was amazing. His entry was quite shocking! Others, were okay.

Vishal-Shekhar’s music was as usual rocking! The duo had always given the best music (‘Taxi No 9211’, ‘Bluffmaster!’, ‘Salaam|Namaste’, ‘Dus’, ‘Zinda’, ‘Kaante’, ‘Musafir’ etc were the movies where they had given the music) and not once have they disappointed. Only 4 songs were in the movie and all four were enjoyable. The most enjoyable was ‘Kyon Aage Piche’ which is picturized in Black and White. This song would be liked by everyone!

Aseem Bajaj’s cinematography was excellent and it gives the movie a modern look. Dialogues were hilarious. Neeraj Vora’s Story was quite cool and crazy!

Rohit Shetty’s direction was excellent. It is hard to believe that Rohit is the same director who had made an action cum serious movie Zameen!

Some funny scenes of the movie:

  1. The scene where Gopal, Lucky and Madhav hide in Laxman’s room in the beginning

  2. The car race scene

  3. The scene where Gopal, Madhav and Laxman bring Valentine gift for Nirali

  4. The song ‘Kyon Aage Piche’

  5. The snake fight scene of Vrajesh Jirjee

  6. The scene where Gopal and Madhav pretends to be Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee in front of Manoj Joshi

  7. The climax

On the whole, Golmaal is excellent and works because of its original, humorous and clean jokes; amazing performances and cool music. Don’t miss it!
