Thorough entertainment

Hi friends,

Seems a little late to come up with a review for the movie Golmaal. But as its is said, the movie is still running well in cinemas and thus its not that late either.

The name of the movie is Golmaal with a tagline attached "Fun Unlimited". The movie really lives upto what it promises and believe me its a total family entertainer. I read a review on MS which says the movie is vulgar when compared to No Entry. My dear friends, there is absolutely no vulgarity in the movie and I doubt the intelligence of people who compare this movie with likes of "Masti" and "Kya kool hai hum".

Plot:

The plot is a pretty interesting one. Four good for nothing guys accidently barging into a blind old couple’s house and one rather two of them pretending to be their grandson. In the plot is a girl who is the love interest of all the four guys.

This definitely makes for a intriguing plot with a diamond smuggling story woven towards the end of the movie.

Direction:

Director Rohit Shetty has attempted comedy for the first time and he has shown that he is supremely talented with this genre.

His previous outing was "Zameen" which had terrorism as its background. This time he forays into a different territory altogether and does that with great elan.

The movie is good on the technical front as well. Cinematography, locales, Dialogues are all up to the mark.

Performances:

A comedy fails miserably if the performances are not up to the mark. But Golmaal has some brilliant performances. Ajay Devgan, tries his best to come out of his serious stereotype and should we say he’s successful. He definitely plays the character of Gopal with great confidence and succeeds in tickling the audience’s funny bone.

Tusshar Kapoor(I hope the spelling’s right), comes as a surprise. He plays the role of the mute guy brilliantly and makes his presence felt in a crowd of actors. Full marks to him.

Sharman Joshi is brilliant as ever. The actor has made me feel about him as a supremely talented actor right from Style through RDB and Shaadi no.1. The problem with him being his individual performances never get noticed due to starring in multi starrers. The actor is excellent with his comic timing and innocent looks help him excel in the same genre.

The forth guy is played by Arshad Warsi. This guy can do nothing wrong as far as comedy is concerned. He has a terrific comic timing paired with excellent dialogue delivery. Kudos Arshad.

Rimi Sen is just about average. Nothin noteworthy about her performance.

Nowadays, Paresh Rawal has become to comedies what Rahul Dravid is to the Indian Cricket team. He plays the role of a blind old man with incredible ease and effortlessness.

The blind old woman is played by Sushmita Mukherjee and she does a decent job. Her facial expressions are just perfect.

Others who are noticed in the movie are Mukesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirji and Deepak Mishra.

Music:

Music is decent and Vishal Shekhar do a good job with this department. Numbers like Reh jaa re and Golmaal are in sync with the mood of the film.

The real surprise by the music director duo comes in the form of the track "Kyon aage peechhe". Vishal Shekhar not only give the song a retro feel but they do so very convincingly. The song is picturised in a very interesting fashion

The movie has certain limitations as wel... The car race sequence seems stretched a bit too much and could have definitely been shortened for the betterment of the movie.

Overall, Golmaal - Fun unlimited is a thorough entertainer and as expected is doing good business at most centres. Definitely recommended.
