Golmaal again is the fourth installment in the Golmaal series of "comedy" movies and stars pretty much the same characters from all the previous golmaal movies. And Rohit Shetty is a master now at using the same formula that we all know and have gotten bored of i.e. a bunch of adult males trying to play childish pranks to win over a girl or for some other nonsensical reason. But this movie does something new which is add a horror element. This time we’ve got a ghost in the mix to increase the level of stupidity as apparently ghosts have unexplained powers which Rohit Shetty can exploit to show more ridiculous physics defying nonsense. The acting is good enough but it doesn’t help when the movie is so Horribly stupid and filled with the lamest jokes from the How to make Golmaal films Manual. Also the characters were unlikable. There were probably one or two jokes that were sort of funny and I might’ve chuckled but the rest of this 2 HOUR 20 MINUTE movie is unfunny and made me sleepy. I knew exactly the kind of movie I was gonna get and it didn’t disappoint. I expected a bad film with lame jokes generously stuffed in it and I got exactly that. Neil Mukesh Nitin or Neil Nitin Mukesh, not sure what his name is also in it as the villain as if he already hasn’t played a rich and greedy baddie before(Prem Ratan Dhan Payo anyone?).
Rohit Shetty shamelessly rehashes the same basic plot line for the fourth time now and we happily pay to watch his movies. Honestly, I didn’t mind the previous Golmaal films, I even admit to enjoying the earlier ones though they were just as ridiculous and I woudn’t call them comedy masterpieces but they were atleast not as bad as Golmaal Again The movie is ridiculous with nonsensical stuff happening all the time which could’ve been saved if there was anything worth a laugh. There is nothing wrong in a Stupid fun movie but atleast the comedy should be good. Some people may even enjoy these films and may be big fans of the franchise and that’s okay, we’re all entitled to our opinions but as a film lover I think Golmaal Again is a bad film. I wouldn’t recommend you spend your hard earned money on this film and invest in more competent films that are out there. Golmaal Again gets a 1.5/5 stars
