Where r the car chases??

’’Gone in 60 Seconds’’ is remarkably pathetic for a big-budget action pic. This is a movie about stealing 50 cars in a single night, and all but one are boosted virtually without incident. Nobody gets hurt. Well almost nobody as the only guy who gets hurt(someone had to) is a computer hacker kid. Now I knew this kinda movies dont make sense & thats the reason why I didnt watch it when it was released , but had to yesterday in my friends place alongwith another very very bad movie ROMEO MUST DIE just to see how bad things really were.

PLOT:

The movie features Nicholas Cage as Memphis Raines, a car thief who was the best until he retired 6 years back. Memphis is forced back into business when he finds out that his brother Kip (Ribisi Phebe’s bro from FRIENDS) screws up while attempting to follow in his footsteps, leaving nasty crime boss Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston a Brit dude) pissed off and a job still to be done. The problem is that Kip promised that he would deliver fifty cars to Raymond, but failed. To get Little Bro off the hook, Raines must deliver 50 stolen cars to the Long Beach port in a single night. Complicating matters is a ultradumb police detective (Delroy Lindo) who wants to nail Memphis more so ’coz he failed to do so 6 years back, so adding a little personal angle to the whole thing.

NOW I will not critisize this piece of crap just ’coz I have a dislike for such blockbuster shit. I’ll review this from the point of view of a guy who likes action movies of this genre ’coz if a movie is made for say kids does it matter what a 50 year old guy sitting in Times Of India thinks of it?

Now there r so many loose ends to this one I gave up counting half way through. There was some formula sort of thing in the making of it. Put some family crap here with Mom & Son then some Big bro’ & kid bro’ there. Then put a romantic angle to it. Then put a story behind the Cop & our hero. And here we have a blockbuster. And yeah most importantly get the bestselling actors available.

The whole movie is an insult to the Cops of america . I wonder why didnt protest about it. This detective finds out that Cage is back in town & has got some merc keys also. He knows where these dudes work from too. So what does he do ? He waits near one of the mercs whole nite waiting for Cage to show up .That too so near that when Cage does show up he can see the cops...haha so very predictable. Dont u think any Cop with minimum intelligence would have kept an eye on their workplace from where they operate & where they store all the 49 cars in one single night?

Ok sorry ones not supposed to think so much while watching such blockbuster action movies. But at times wonder what does that supposed to mean? Does the people who love these movies have no brains to use? I mean I have also enjoyed other movies of this genre like CONAIR , ARMGEDDON but this movie had crap written all over it.

Then there were cliched dialogues all over it like-’’He’s bad ... he’s real bad.’’ or ’’How

deep is he in?’’ ’’Deeeeep.’’ But the worst crime done by the makers of this movie was what they did to Vinnie Jones(ex England Soccer player turned actor). He is there in both the Guy Ritchie movies LOCK STOCK.. & SNATCH & he kicked ass. Wasting the forceful presence of Vinnie Jones was simply unpardonable. Hes got just 2 or 3 dialogues in the whole movie. If thats the kinda work Hollywood is gonna dish out to someone like him then its better he goes back to England & acts only when Guy Ritchie makes another masterpiece.

And to top it all this was a remake not an original.
