INDELIBLE IMPRINTS

There are a few books that one comes across in ones life, that leave an indelible imprint on the heart and the mind. The book ’Gone With the wind’ was one such book along with a few others which I had read like ’ The Thorn birds’ and ’The most wanted’, The Fountainhead, ’MAn, Woman and Child, ’The Message in a bottle’ etc.

Gone with the Wind is a kind of book which I feel and even my teachers told me when I was a sprouting teenager, that every girl must read it.

Its a saga and a tale of an impulsive and heartless girl who in her folly, goes on breaking the hearts of people in love with her. She is so blinded in her own obsessions that she is unable to see true love and recognize the meaning of contentment.

Many girls love to fantasize and think of a prince charming who will whisk them away to wonderland, so this book actually deals with those emotions and how things turn out for Scarlett o’Hara towards the end, will leave ur heart yearning for some more.

The character portrayal of Scarlett brings her very being into life. The writer with the beauty of words has painted a vivid picture of a passionate, headstrong and selfish girl, driven by her own impulses. And then comes the intimidating Rhett Butler, if such men do exist...

his cynicism, his sarcasm and yet his unpretentious love leave u breathless. There are other memorable characters in this book like Ashely and Melanie and how could one forget MAmmy...

Gone With the Wind was the only book written by the writer, Margaret Mitchell, and she never wrote another of the like.

Its a really thick book but extremely engrossing and very entertaining. It is set on the backdrops of a civil war where the blacks in Southern America are trying to gain freedom from the bondage of slavery, and succeed is gaining freedom. Its speaks of human emotions and love and passion with voice that you cannot ignore.

Ihavent read the opinion of other people on Gone with the Wind, but if u are an ardent reader, and love reading good books, then dont miss ur chance on this one, coz its one in a million and a TRUE CLASSIC!

Happy Reading!
