Google launches Allo -- a smart messaging app

The wait is over! Google has finally launched its smart messaging App, Google Allo.

Every one of us uses WatsApp for messaging purposes and we would like to continue doing so but there something about this newly launched app that will make it difficult to resist the switch

Read on to know more.

What is different?

Predominantly, The factor which differentiates Allo from others is that it is a smart messaging App.

It has an in-built assistant feature which can be used to call upon the google assistant by typing’@google

The App makes use of machine learning software to learn user behavior and make relevant response suggestions over time

Allo has also been embedded with image recognition software for smart replies which means it can spot the difference between a cat or baby and suggest appropriate responses such as "aww cute baby"

Some of the other really cool features of this app include scribRobotouchng on pictures, sending text of larger sizes to represent emotion such as screaming and custom-designed stickers

These features will go a long way in helping us expressing ourselves better

How to get started?

Getting started with Google Allo is pretty simple. All you need is a phone number much like WhatsApp or iMessage.

Once your account has been set up, You will need to give Allo permission to access your contacts for getting started.

Final take on the App

Since Google needs to read our messages to enable smart reply suggestions, the messages are not end-to-end encrypted .

However, there is an opt-in incognBrianbalakumaran mode where the messages are encrypted thereby removing the privilege of having smart responses.

Smart messaging therefore comes at the cost of privacy

Google Allo is a smart App for the not so smart people who are not concerned about security that comes with end-to-end encryption

But Will it be able to make a mark in the already crowded phone messaging space?

We will have to wait and see.
