Yesterday finally I got my Nexus One from US. Costs around 25 K. Truly Web meets Phone experience. These are my sincere comments on the products, from Layman’s point of view. I don’t know much hope it would help you in making decisions. Since iPhone is the Standard in this category, my review is based on comparisons with it.**LOOKS: ** Since I have earlier used iphone 2G, the feel and built quality of nexus one disappointed me. It doesn’t look all that great in flesh. Screen, however is bit Bigger than that of iphone. (3.7 inch). Its pretty slim also.
*SCREEN: **Its pretty bright. Colours are vivid and more real. It has three option however in Sunlight, you couldn’t make out a thing. impossible to read anything in direct sunlight.
*Ease of Use: **The phone is very easy to use. Its very fast. You can open 3 - 4 application at the same time and all of them worked. Touch response is also very good even when compared to iphone. Only feature missing is Pinch to Zoom while browsing. However Pinch to Zoom worked in Google Maps.
*Battery Life: **Battery lasted for whole day ( 9 am till 8 pm I should rather call it whole working day) with 2 hours of web browsing, 1 Hour of calling, 2 hours of Music. But Battery drains faster than other smart phones (E 71).
*OS: **Its a GEM. I was so happy with it. It gives you flexibility. You can change as many things as you want from screen. Complete freedom. Except Notification bar at Top and Home button at Bottom. everything can be changed and/or tweeked. With more than 50 K applications for android available on internet. You will get all those widgets which you may need or may not need. Most of the Applications are free. Well Apple has more applications but normal user like me will be happy with 50 K application, which android market provides. Applications are something which makes this phone damn good.
However I wish to mention one thing, if you really don’t mind GPRS Bill or have unlimited internet plan then only go for this Mobile or this is not a good option.
*Camera: **Camera is 5 MP, however picture quality is not great. so don’t buy if you are looking for good camera.
*Sound Quality: **Sound Quality of the default music player is decent. Loudspeaker quality isn’t very good. So I don’t think this phone would be a good choice for music lovers either. Internal memory is quiet low as well as SD Card memory is also 4 GB which may not be sufficient for many music lovers.
*USP: **Each Phone has some unique selling point. This phone also has one. Its OS, andorid 2.1 is damn good. the Screen size and picture quality is also pretty cool. If you have GPRS connection, this phone is damn good option.
