Google Pixel 2 XL- Its Pros & Cons

Quick Specs:

  1. Snapdragon 835 ( Octa Core Processor)

  2. 4 GB RAM

  3. 6 Quad HD pOLED Screen with Gorilla Glass 5

  4. 64 GB Internal Storage

  5. Single SIM Nano

  6. 12.2 megapixels Rear Camera f1.8 with OIS

  7. 8 megapixels Front Camera

  8. 3520 mAh Battery with Fast Charging

  9. Fingerprint Scanner, NFC

  10. Front Firing Stereo Speakers

What I Liked:

  1. BUILD QUALITY: The device is not at all heavy. The weight balance has been done very well. It has a metal body but a plasticy coating had been applied on top of it which very nice for grip and in-hand feel.

  2. SPEAKERS: It has a proper front firing stereo speaker setup. And it is one of the best in the industry. It gives a very immersive experience while consuming multimedia.

  3. ANDROID EXPERIENCE: It is the best Android experience that you can get. Being a Pixel device, the software is directly handled by Google, so updates are fast and you can get latest updates immediately. It provides Vanilla Stock Android experience and it is very fluid and fast ( it’s even more fluid than the iPhone X) .

  4. RAM MANAGEMENT: It has 4GB of RAM and the RAM management on this device has been done incredibly well. I did not notice any issues regarding multitasking etc.

  5. BATTERY LIFE: The battery backup has been very good being a flagship smartphone. I was getting anywhere between 5.5 hrs to 6+ hrs of screen on time which is actually very good. With casual use, it lasted for about one and ab half day.

  6. GAMING: The gaming performance is also very good. Even after extended gaming it did not become hot. It also handled very heavy games like the Asphalt 8 nearly very well.

  7. CAMERA: This is one thing that Google has done brilliantly. It does not have dual cameras but with a single camera setup only the pictures are simply the best and also provide features like the portrait mode even with the front facing camera. Both the cameras are the best as of now ( even better than the iPhone X) .

What I didn’t Like:

  1. SCREEN: It has a pOLED screen made by LG. By default, the colours are also very much muted but after an software update it had how a saturated mode which makes the colours look a lot more punchier. But frankly speaking it doesn’t has the worst screen among the 2017 flagships.

  2. CHARGING: It does not support wireless charging.

  3. HEADPHONE JACK: It also omits the 3.5 mm headphone jack. You will get an adapter in the box. But it should have that headphone jack.

CONCLUSION: Overall if you want a flagship Android smartphone which is not made by SAMSUNG and provides pure stock Android experience, go for it. If the screen have been better then it should have been the ideal Android smartphone. I would suggest that go to a local store and use the phone for sometime. If you are comfortable with the screen, then it’s your choice.
