This message is to all those people who have yet not tried to use googles latest product. "Video Chat" on their Gmail. Albeit, this product sounds exciting, indeed it is, but the aftermath of this untested version of the product might leave you feel peevish. You might regret "Why did I installed this?" as I am regretting right now. I would like to share my experience. I use Sensx22 Laptop of Samsung which come along with 1.3 megapixel Camera embedded on it.
I use mozilla browser (personal choice) for browsing internet. I was very excited to see google has launched video chat and went ahead to install the same on my laptop. Guess what it was rally wonderful product to use until I stat realizing its shortcomings. When you use you cam with googles product .... your resource becomes useless with any other chat/messenger. I was not able to use my cam for yahoo or Skype .... it said " The camera is being used by other program", even when I was not using the google at all. I canceled all the browers & quit the gtalk.
Still the result is same. I was not able to use that with any ohter programs.. EVEN Worse ... When I went "My Computer" I could not see my cam at all there ..... It was really HORRIFYING. I thought my cam is in jeopardy ....
Thank God when I restarted the system I got the Camera Icon back on "My Computer" but when I click on it .. it says "Fails to Initalize. It is being used by another program". I uninstalled "Google Video" "Google Desktop", "Google Talk". All google product but the result is the same the result of using "Googe Video" is ... I have LOST my CAM. It has become useless. I tried to report this to google but guess what ... I could not get any URL or email ID where I could do so. Hence I thought at least I can protect other people from what happened to me. This product has not been tested for the backward compatibility (once uninstalled it should leave the system as it was before) hence I recommend all of you not to use it Please. If I am I being heard by google.
I request them please restore my systems CAM.
