Chat Conferencing in Google Talk

This will help you conference chat using google talk. There is also a way to do voice conference, but we will look at that later.

You will need the following before we start:

  1. Python Server Software

download from https://python.org

  1. Google Conference Bot Script

download from https://coders.meta.net.nz/~perry/jabber/confbot-v1_6.zip

You need one gmail account to use this.

Concept:

The script will login to the gmail account and will act as a host (as in a chat room). You can then add that gmail account to your friend’s list in google talk and start chatting. Your friends also will need to add that gmail account to their friend’s list in google talk and then start chatting.

All the messages sent by everyone to that ID can be seen by all who have added and presently chatting.

Assumption: gmail ID which I use for chat conference is absolutbot@gmail.com, so I am using the same for the example

Working:

Download and install the Python Server

Download the script and extract it into a safe place

Run the Python Server

Now run the confbot.py file (this should open python server automatically)

Enter your username (absolutbot in my case) Remember its only username and not @ gmail.com

Password

and now you are done.

Just add absolubot@gmail.com (in my case) and tell your friends also to add the same. Now when you start chatting to absolutbot, you will be conferencing.
