One of my friends suggested this restaurant to us. We were actually planning to have our lunch in Toran but changed our mind since we were going in different area. We went to this restaurant for dinner. The restaurant opens at 7:00 pm. However, I could see people waiting in the restaurant lawn at 6:45 pm. The restaurant waiting lawn is beautifully decorated.
The entrance is also decorated in traditional Gujarati style. They serve the meal in huge silver plate (called Thad in Gujarati). There would be around 8 small bowls in the plate. The items consist of 2 sweet dishes, 4 curries, one special dish, 2 kind of snacks(farsan), roti, bhakhri, puri, one special dish of the day, chinese dosa (dosa with noodles inside), dal/kadhi, papad, plain rice, khichdi and buttermilk. You can fill your stomach just by tasting each item. Everything in the meal is unlimited including the sweets.
I have had similar kind of meals in other restaurants in Ahmedabad (like the popular Pakwan restaurant). The food, service and the ambience is much better than the Pakwaan restaurant on the Ashram road. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people.
