I adore this book. Ive always wanted to read history in this manner. What were people doing, not simply the wars or the politics? Why did they hold those opinions? What prompted their response? First-person accounts provide a true picture of what it was like. How the balance of power has changed throughout history. How "the greatest metropolis in the world" fit into the planets history over its whole existence. The amount of study that went into this 1400 page book is beyond my comprehension. Naturally, its much simpler to read it on my Kindle. Even though the Revolutionary War is just just coming to a finish, I am eager for the following century.
