A Good Government Hospital

I want to give a report on surprisingly pleasant experience with a Government Hospital, at Mettupalayam, a small town in Coimbatore District of Tamilndau. Contrary to all beliefs, my recent experience with this small Government Hospital was pleasent. One of my farm labourer in a remot village in Mettupalayam Taluk had a snake bite at around 7.00 pm on 10-06-2006 Saturday. He killed the snake and carried it in a plastic bag and travelled by a town bus to a private hospital at Sirumugai a nearby village. The doctor gave first aid and informed him that the snake is poisonous and advised him to rush to the Government Hospital. He reached the Government Hospital around 10.30 in the night. Immediately his blood samples were collected, tested and he was given an injection. He was given two bottles of Glucose. Early in the morning around 4.30 am his wife was informed by the duty staff that she can go home to attend to farm chores and that the patient would be discharged after the doctor comes and sees him. Next day (Sunday) at 07.00 am the doctor saw him and discharged him with a advice to come back only if there are any problems and he reached the farm by 8.00 am on his own. All his expenses was about Rs.20 towards bus fare for him and his wife. I posting this to tell every body that there are very good Government Hospitals rendering real good service.
