Government Law college at Trivandrum , Kerala .

This college was established in the year 1875.This college situate very near to the Trivandrum city but a peaceful atmospheric place called Barton Hill.    I have completed my under graduate legal course from this college in year 1987. This prestigious institution is affiliated with Bar council of India and University of Kerala .


Even though LL.B and LL.M courses are available at those days now B.A; LL.B course are taught to students .


LL.B course is for 6 semesters in three years and consist of 20 compulsory papers and 4 compulsory clinical papers and 6 optional papers in law .The tuition fees and caution deposit for this course is   Rs. 6500, University fees   --Rs. 700 and thus a total amount will come up to Rs. 7000/- [It may vary from year to year ]


B.A ; LL.B course is a double degree integrated course comprising B.A[ English Literature] and LL.B degree in Law.This regular course is for a period of 10 semesters in five years consist of 14 papers in B.A. and 31 papers in law.


LL.M post graduate law degree in two lines specializations ie, in Science , Technology and Law and in International Law . The tuition fees for this course is   Rs. 3600/-, caution deposit -- Rs. 1500/-, University fees   --Rs. 1170 and thus a total amount will come up to 10, 000/-


The library in this college is one of the oldest Law Library in the country .It holds more than 27, 000 books and 5000 periodicals .


The Men’s Hostel on the same premises of the college was an advantage for the students coming from long distance .Now the Men’s Hostel is converted int Women’s Hostel .The male student are now accommodated in to University Hostel at Palayam very near to the College.


The first woman judge of the Supreme Court of India Fahima Beevi , Former Supreme Court judge Justice K.K.Mathew , Justice Cyric Joseph arr the few alumnus of this college .


Those who have completed pree- degree or equivalent courses are eligible for B.A; LL.B and those who have completed degree course   are eligible for LL.B courses


Admissions to both graduate and post graduate courses are through a highly Competitive Entrance Examinations conducted by Commissioner of Entrance Examinations , Government of Kerala

Those who are qualified in Law degree courses are eligible to sit for the Bar practices of law in India.
