Historical hotel which has retained its elegance and class while upgrading to modern amneties. The real Grand feeling comes from its restaurant. It is a classy place with great food and equally great selection of wines. All dishes are well made with great taste. It is basically an Indian menu with coastal specialities.
Karimeen Pollichathu is an all time favourite. Fish Mollie and Pappas are some of the dishes that you can get the Chef to prepare on request. You may also get squid and octopus dishes made to perfection. Fried Crabmeat that we ordered was too dry. They have a great selection of liquor.
I would also recommend some of the Biriyanis and Rice dishes. The rest of the menu may be fair, but then you should not expect too much from a South Indian restaurant that specialises in coastal dishes. Their coastal preparations are excellent, the rest is fair.
I have given the rating EXCELLENT, that is correct for Cochin restaurants. There are very few others in Cochin that meet the predicatability of quality and ambience at an affordable price.
