HORNY OK PLEASE !!

If you have been reading a lot of reviews you’ll likely have many questions too - Is it Raunchy? Is it overboard with the idea of SEX? Is it comic? Is it offensive? Is it’grose’(to borrow @SG21 parlance)? Is it plot less? - The answer is a resounding’Yes’ to all, for some in entirety, to others in parts.

To their credit, the producers have tagged this as an ’Adult’ movie and the promos have made it clear what to expect. Which reminds me - these days the promos do a great job of squeezing the juice out of the movie and the one for Grand Masti was no exception. It captured most of the highlights which makes me wonder if it might have been a better idea to actually leave out a few so that the audience just got a sampler instead of most of the highlights.

The best part is - for a movie like this you dont have to try to act. A lot of it might just come naturally. Which is what seems to have happened here with all our three’boys’, Amar(Ritiesh), Meet(vivek) & Prem(Aftab) having a good time and looking at home trying to seek some fun out their otherwise’stale’ marital lives by revisiting their college. Most of the jokes have done already done numerous rounds on internet so there may not be any novelty about them. But then great comedy, I suppose, is more a question of "manners and expressions" than mere words. And some of the facial expressions, Rajeev_Vermacially by Ritiesh and Aftab, are really worth a watch. They can even elicit ’hysterical’ peals of laughter, an emotion that is of immense value in a drab world like ours. The sequence where Mary’gropes around’ to get things out of Ritiesh(his bag actually) is probably the most offensive of all the scenes and one of the funniest too. The entire setup reminded me of "Carry On" series, parts of which are really good.

The ladies, all six, are there mainly for the "eye candy" factor and there’s little else to be said about them. Suresh Menon does his funny bit(though I suppose he was a tad underutilized, a great actor that he is) and Pradeep Rawat(as Robert Pareirra) is passable too. The 1st half is kinda engrossing while the second suffers from the attempt to put together a’plot’. The background score is really below par and I for one was surprised that they didn’t even try to reprise the music used in’Masti’. And this is such a shame since appropriate’music’ could have really enhanced the ’experience’:-P

This one’s definitely not fit for watching with family. But then so are many other great movies. I wouldn’t take the Reviewers out there too seriously. They wouldn’t have a problem with SRK cracking lewd jokes at award ceremonies being watched live by children on TV but their self-righteousness wouldn’t allow an "A" rated movie(with limited access at theaters) to go unscathed. I’d rather the likes of Inder Kumar continued with this’genre’ and leave the Karan Johars and Aditya Chopras of this world to theirs.

If you have had a few friends like Amar, Meet & Prem during your college days, just ring them up and go for it. As the boys so succinctly put it, this one is -

HORNY OK PLEASE!
