Bookstores, roadside book stalls around Fountain, book sales by Strand ..... I do it all, just for the pleasure of owning a book, inhaling its pages and reading minds that have lived on this planet
Had first seen Granth at Malad, and then about 10 - 12 years ago, the Juhu branch opened. Been buying books from Granth, Juhu ever since. The store is located just before the first entrance of Juhu beach, near the Millionnaire showroom. It has been a 2 floor establishment (one floor for children’s books, stationery and CDs, DVDs) but I believe it is currently undergoing some renovation so probably some changes happening.
Their staff is extremely courteous, warm and unobtrusive. They let you peruse through their collection without hanging around you all the time. You can pick a book and sit to flip through it, if you’re confused. If they don’t have a book they can source it for you via their distributors
They have a point system for purchases, once you become a member. It could have been a tad bit more rewarding, I feel it it is a bit miserly, plus you don’t get points when you buy on sale. But you do get a further discount for being a member, so that’s nice
Their collection of books is definitely noteworthy... have picked loads a books over the years.
