Well, I had a very bad experience with green line travels. I had booked the tour for kodaikanal for 3 ppl with green line travels. I was booking little late and some of the more famous tour operators told they were full. I was ready to pay more for some good accommodation so I opted for star category , the more expensive one. I booked tickets via "ramya travels" in jeevan bhima nagar.
He promised that it’ll be a very big room and comfortable for 3 ppl with extra bed and not just extra mattress. also he got us front seats in the bus and "confirmed" that it’ll be same seats while returning as well. so we happily went for the tour. ofcourse when we reached there, we were made to stay in a small room with extra mattress and agent’s tone had completely changed and he asked us to just contact green line head office.
All the arrangement there was taken care by mr raja’s tours. He told us to take that room or go and stay wherever we wanted. The room had no view though the hotel was called "valley view" and I was just wondering how the rooms will be in deluxe and normal categories? also as a compensation for all the "trouble"’ we caused him , he gave us back seat out of which one was broken. green line doesn’t have their own bus to kodai kanal so it was mayura travel bus and I overheard the driver telling some passengers that mayura keeps most of the front seats for ppl who booked tours via mayura except for some small quota for other tour operators. So rest of the ppl get back seats.
Please note that when you go for booking , you’ll find them to be most hospitable ppl in the world. once you start the journey , you can start to see the change. you can’t go by their promises, and they won’t give you every detail in the beginning, like I asked many times which hotel we’ll stay in . but they kept saying , it’ll be good one , don’t worry and it’ll be decided later based on which 3star hotel has room available.it is more effort, but better option is to book bus and hotel separately and in advance , esp for the bus. also I found out that it is very easy to find local operators for sight seeing. and package actually turns out to be much more costlier than if you do the booking yourself. I had taken one tariff card from the hotel I stayed and for the same package cost , you can afford a better one always.
The only decent part was that local sight seeing was pretty good. guide was very enthusiastic and good number of places were covered with the right pace.
