I booked tickets for Pondy in Greenline for 31st Oct almost 45 days in advance. To my surprise I got a message on 16th Oct that my ticket is cancelled. It was kind of a shock since I never cancelled the ticket. I then made multiple calls to the Greenline office and they said the service is cancelled since the permit is expiring. So I asked them how can permit expire only for 1 day? There was no response. I asked them if they are going to cancel the service from Pondy to Bangalore for 3rd Nov since my return was on that day. again the answer was no. So I know there is something fishy.
I kept on checking their sites and after almost a week after they relaunched the same bus(as special service) and fare was more than double.(See the pics)
I realized that this is their normal strategy for long weekends and also read similar issues posted here. I believe this is completely unethical. If the need was to increase the fares; couldnt this be done in advance rather than causing inconvenience to passengers?
