I went to gulati today !! after hearing all the hype about some great restaurant on pandara road which is purely veg ( can u help it with all those bird flu stories doing the rounds!!)
i mean who would eat vegetarian food if given a choice - but I do wanna live and I dont wanna take unnecessary chances.
lets get to the point - I reached there with family by 8pm on friday eve and NO PLACE TO PARK! I mean its a nightmare to park your car and on top of it the road is a one way street. so when you want to get out you’re stuck for a long long time.
to the food - food is very very expensive. I mean a thali for 165 bucks !! absurd I must say... that too when its a normal joint, not some swanky state of the art 4-5star or something. I mean the rates they charge you are nothing short of exhorbitant! but then the food is pretty good and tasty, all said and done. and it seems fresh and is a relief after all the trouble you’ve gone through trying to just park your car and a find a place to sit. the place is rather small about 10 tables or just 40people at a time, which is peanuts compared to most of today’s restaurants that can seat a 100+ people at a time. which means if you’re not on time then you’re gonna have to wait in addition to everything else that you have to put up with!!
in short, gulati is a small place for nice rich people who have drivers to drive them around everywhere and if you’re looking for a cosy place at an affordable or even decent price - A V O I D !!
but there are a few good things - the food is great, the decor is pretty decent and the service is pretty good.
ALL said and done .. if you’re NOT a vegetarian i’ll say go someplace else. dont venture to this place as there are lots of better options in town.
and if you are a veggie you have nathu’s, and bikanerwala and haldirams and a 101 other places which will give you more bang for your buck, coupled with better parking, spacious dining spaces and lots of other things.
you see... I dont say this place is bad or something - I just mean if you want you can get something a lot better in terms of value and facilities.
