I stay and work in Dubai. Last year during Eid holidays I decided to visit my home place in India and booked a ticket through my known Trave Agent. I was informed that the flight will go via Bahrain. The halt at Bahrain will be for an hour and later the flight will proceed to Bangalore. But on landing at Bahrain we were informed that the connecting flight to Bangalore had already leaft as we were late by half an hour. Nearly 20 to 25 passengers like me were accommodated in a Hotel in Bahrain and we left Bahrain the next day after a cool 24 hours stay in Bahrain. My total planned stay in India was only 3 days. Alas one day was wasted in Bahrain. On reaching Bangalore my baggage did not reach and I went home without any baggage. The staff of Gulf Air at Bahrain were umsympathetic and accommodating in a hotel was thought as a big favour. In fact Gulf Air overbooked and made good money at our cost.
Fortunately my baggage at Bangalore reached two days later, just before my return journey. The above incident made me decide to avoid Gulf Air in future.
In fact I always prefer either Indian or Air-India. It is a lesson for me for having chosen another carrier. Let my experience be an eye opener for others.
