Zoya Akhtar completely does justice to her reputation as a director once again, by delivering a phenomenal movie ! Never had I imagined that Indian Hip-Hop could be so beautifully potrayed in an underdog movie which is though predictable, yet heart-touching and at the same time immensely motivating and energetic ! ??
A simple yet nicely written script, accompanied by some strong, impactful performances and the "Zoya touch"creates something really magical here !

Ranveer and Alia are terrific, their chemistry with just about the adequate fizz, does work really well and special praises to Siddhant Chaturvedi ( aka MC Sher) who really roares throughout the film [another hidden talent unearthed I would say]. The screenplay is so well-knit, engrossing and at the same time, makes you feel every bit of the emotion the characters, specially the protagionist, is going through ! The sprinkles of the beautiful poetry( Zoya trademark) interspersed at times with the electrifying and addictive music, with meaningful & applause-worthy rap lyrics, completely wraps this movie with an emotion of it's own.??
It surely was a bit long but I was willing to watch it for another 1 hour easily ! Yes, that's how much I connected to the Gully Boy ! Such movies really lift up the standards of our very own Bollywood and I feel so happy that this kind of cinema is really working here ! #ApnaTimeAayega ??
