Today I’m going to share my experience as a #MouthShutTraveller about world famous Skiing Resort of Gulmarag in North Kashmir(India). I have been to this place numerous times and in all seasons. The most beautiful thing about this place is, it is unique in every season. In Summer its green and green everywhere while as in winter it seems as if Nature has with utmost care placed a thick white blanket of snow all over. Summer and winter are clearly demarcated seasons. We can say its green in summer and White in winter.
Accessibility: The place is easily accessible via well built road system. It is located on one of the branches of NH-1A Passing through Srinagar Baramullah. You can easily take a Taxi(Taveera, Innova, Sumo, Sucarpio etc) from Srinagar Airport or Bus terminal or Srinagar Railway station and within 3 hours you will be there.
Also you can reach there from other District headquarters. But only road you have to follow is Srinagar Baramullah NH-1A.
The place has no airport except chopper services in special circumstances like bad weather or road blocks.
Local Sightseeing: the place is most beautiful and mesmerising destination. It is really astonishing to see how beautifully nature has designed this place. Very high altitude peaks covered with variety of different types of trees all around.
In Winter its amazing to see snow covered mountains and trees and everything. There is tremendous tourist rush in winters. People who love to see Snowfall, Frozen snow, and Snow skiing come from all over the world to take part in Winter games there. Like Snow cycling, snow hockey, skiing etc
Also Gulmarag winter festival is organised every year by local Tourism Department and Gulmarag Development Authority. So many winter activities are conducted during this festival.
In summer this all green and colourful people from all over the world reach here for vocations and enjoy the Cool, calm and fresh atmosphere.
Gulmarag Gondola or Cable car is worlds highest cable Car service installed there and it is Asia’s longest cable car. Its one of the best things you can enjoy there. It takes you from the planes of Gulmarag valley to higher reaches of Himalayas. It takes you from green Gulmarag to Snowy white Mountain tops. You can ride in the cable car alone or with other 5 passengers at a time and get a mesmerising view of mountains, trees and snow underneath.
Hotel Accommodation: Gulmarag is full of variety of different Hotels and restaurants. If you like to stay in a 5 Star hotel or simple one there is everything for you from cheapest to luxurious hotels. There is affordable accommodation for everyone whether you are high income or low income.
Safety: its fully safe. You may have heard a lot about Conflict in Kashmir but this or even any other tourist destination in Kashmir has never seen any untoward incident in History. Once you reach in Gulmarag even being a Kashmiri born and surviving in conflict you experience as if there is No War anywhere. You feel peace within your own mind and outside. As far as safety from wild animals and birds and road etc is concerned I personally have never heard of any such instances in my life time about this place.
In case of any emergency there are immediate rescue services and things like snow scooters snd chair lift services if someone gets stuck in avalanche or snow.
Recommendations: I fully not only recommend everyone to visit this place But I personally Invite Everyone to visit Gulmarag. Particularly if you are loving Snow games and Snow Sking do come to Gulmarag and enjoy your winter to its fullest.
