She was 29 a software professional working with TechM for client BritishTelecom.
She was expecting a baby boy(as told by Dr Sanjay Gupte) to be delivered between 16th of Aug - 21 of Aug 2010.
She was under Dr Sanjay Gupte’s treatment for more than a year.
She had completed 36 weeks of pregnancy and went for a routine checkup to Dr Sanjay Gupte(Gupte Hosp, Bhandarkar road Pune) on 13th of Aug 2010 and all the test were reported to be normal by her Dr.
It appears that Dr was busy attending to demands of crazy idiots who wanted their babies to be delivered on 15th Aug by paying huge amount to this Dr and in the process though it was my sister who needed attention, this Dr FAILED to attend her and due to his negligence we lost her. My sister had jokingly told my mother that all the hospital beds seems to be full when she came back after her routine visit.
Dr suggested her to get admitted on 16th of Aug at 7AM morning, so that they can plan for a Cesarean in that week.
Saturday went fine but on Sunday night she started experiencing pain and was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state.
She was declared dead on arrival by Dr Gupte. He said she died before 20 minutes.
But my mother says she was perspiring and her body was warm when she was taken to the hospital in car, till the time they reached the hosp.
I was not present there and my sister vandana was accompanied by her husband, my brother Prashant and my mother.
I and my wife later visited the Dr and asked him about the whole affair.
Dr Sanjay Gupte’s whole body was literally shaking and scared talking to me.
He explained me that the cause of the death is due to a clot getting formed during delivery which propagated to her heart and caused a cardiac respiratory arrest.
As per him clot formation is normal in pregnant women(this is to avoid too much of bleeding during delivery).
He then explained me that how a young boy collapsed at Symbiosis college while delivering a lecture.
The reason behind his death was clot formation according to Dr Gupte.
I don’t understand Dr Gupte’s statement and its relevance with the death of this boy.
Was he pregnant? Dr Gupte was contradicting himself and was going haywire while explaining me.
As per him there was a delay(of 30 minutes) in bringing her to the hosp.
I asked him, if he would have admitted her on 13th Aug itself then was there a chance that we could have avoided this?
To this the Dr replied in negation stating that this clot formation and propagation to her heart was so sudden that even if she was in hospital,
he cannot assure or guarantee that she should have been saved.
But what I understand from my family doctors(Dr Rohit Shah Heart Specialist Nasik) is that the clot formation is not so sudden and it would have been easily detected in the ECG test when she visited on 13th of Aug.
Clot formation is a natural process in every woman, it takes weeks for formation and quite sometime to propagate to lungs/heart and action can be taken to normalize it.
Dr Rohit Shah clearly told me that Santosh, this is sheer negligence on the Dr’s part but unfortunately it is out bad luck that we can’t do anything now.
Now what I understand from the whole experience is that:
There was a sheer negligence on the Dr Gupte’s side in handling this case.
Dr Gupte has made a huge fortune and has the capability of influencing law to any extent. No Lawyer was ready to take my case against him.
He explained me that how good and world class his facility is and said that he performs 1600 deliveries every year and this is for last 35 years.
His statements about clot formation are contradictory and if someone draws a conclusion out of it, it only means that women should not go for pregnancy.
When I asked the Dr that whatever he is stating would that reflect in the PostMortem report, he said yes the PM report will contain exactly what I explained and added that
since this is a case of death due to medical complications, the PM report won’t reveal the complete details. PM report won’t be available to relatives.
These details will be revealed only with the Medical committee and further said that "FYI I am the chairperson of this committee".
- In short he was trying to tell me that he can manipulate the PM report in his own way and challenged me that you can’t do anything to me. SUCH A CHEAP BEHAVIOR BY A HIGH PROFIILE PERSON IN AN ETHICAL FIELD
I suspect that their is a foul play involved.
He did not had the capacity to accommodate more patients for delivery
Since it was 15th of Aug and many people might have requested him to get their delivery done on 15th of Aug.
He did not carefully checked my sister on 13th of Aug when she last visited him and he just depended upon his trainee doctors to do the tests and did not diagnose the situation clearly.
Though she was expected to deliver on 15th of Aug, he did not paid attention and thought he can push it forward to 16th of Aug.
We will be getting the PM report from the Police but I am not confident that truth will be revealed in greater depth in that report.
It would just be a manipulated report which would not contain any transparent details.
He influenced BJ Medical college staff and delayed the PM report by 4 months.
I had to file a RTI to get the PM report details.
Then another RTI to get the Chemical analysis report.
After all this torture, I then visited Gokhale Nagar(Janwadi) Police station with my family and asked the police to file a formal complaint.
Police did not take the written complain of ours but wrote in their own words.
They did not gave us any written copy of the complaint. Since we don’t know anything about Police formalities, we were literally fooled even by the Police.
Nothing happened to the complaint.
Now I do not have any concrete basis to stand against him since every thing is in his control and forged as per his will.
THINK PATIENTLY OVER THIS COMPLETE EXPERIENCE.
COMMON CITIZEN HAS BECOME A MERE COMMODITY IN THE HANDS OF THIS MONEY MINTING GOONS.
DON’T LOOK FOR THE 5 STAR FACILITIES THAT HOSPITALS PROVIDE BUT LOOK FOR SOME ONE WHO WILL PAY YOU PERSONAL ATTENTION.
IN THE PROCESS IF YOU LOOSE YOUR LOVED ONE, YOU CAN’T FIGHT WITH BIG GOONS LIKE THESE.
AND FOR GOD SAKE, DON’T BE CRAZY ON GETTING YOUR BABIES DELIVERED ON 15TH AUGUST AND 26TH JANUARY. YOU MIGHT BE KILLING SOMEONE IN THE PROCESS WHO ACTUALLY NEEDS ATTENTION.
