Mini Singapore Calling ....

Since when I am telling you "Transfer me to Gurgaon"... I kept quipping my bosses. They kept asking me WHY.... and I kept saying Personal reasons.

I had been to this place a couple of times before but only during transit. The first time I landed here was due to my jaipur trip. I landed at Delhi Airport and spend the evening with my friend who works with a software giant at Gurgaon. I seconded the place pretty soon.. but only for the same reason. The last time I was here was during my trip to Mussoorie where we boarded from here en route.

My bosses had no way but to kneel down to my constant effort for a transfer. An finally the D-Day arrived and the company transfer letter to Gurgaon was in my hands. Now there is nothing better than a company sponsered trip to a place you love to be. A seat in jet airways and all expenses (transfer & settling down ) paid by the company :) WoW!!!! when they will next transfer me...

Above that company booked accomodation in a hotel of my choice with pick up and drop to office... kewlllll...

Well after a couple of days the realization settled on me that I am in Gurgaon and I need to know the tips and tricks of the place as soon as possible. My friend quipped.. jet on your bike and the city is yours for the offing.. very true.. Gurgaon is a smaller city compared to many big cities of India and its comparitively straight roads make it easier to navigate and remember. The key here was to get hold of the famous NH-8. Once you know all the branches of this road and where they lead to.. you have seen all they say"New Gurgaon". Old gurgaon starts a bit ahead of Sector-15 and you can find a big gate saying "Way to old DLF city". Though not a big fan of this part of the city .. I have travelled almost whole diameter of it..

Now to come to the famous NH-8 (Delhi-Jaipur Highway)and its key linking road:

  1. You have the famous 32 Milestone over the road.

  2. Malls (PVR Metropolitan, Sahara, DT, MGF Plaza and Grand) overlook the NH-8 from the famous IFFCO chowk.

  3. Atlantis Condonium, Palm City and DLF developers and IBM are on its sideways.

  4. Udhyog Vihar.. the industrial and IT sector wing at Gurgaon is overlooked on either side of this road.

  5. And most of all.. it serves as the path for the Delhi Airport...

So overall NH-8 is the bread and butter of majority of people staying here.

The other recent development in the town is the growing up of South City Phase- 1 & 2 and sprawling apartments in the area Sector 42-57.

I love the malls and the broad roads of NH-8. Its simply fantacy to drive on NH-8. Always fast and furious !!!!

Now the Lows of the city :

  1. The dusty roads and sideways (due to the new infrastructural developments)

  2. The cost factor (Noway less than Delhi)

  3. Water and Power problems (Same as delhi)

  4. Lack of basic amenity outlets (You generally have to head the malls or some big shopping arena to quench your requirements)

  5. Its people somebit.. need to be a bit more polished... to suit its Mini Singapore Stature and Growing IT demands.

Overall this is a good enough place to stay during your late 40’s when you plan to settle down and can afford a bit slumpish atmosphere around you. For the young, go getter crowd..bangalore and Hyderabad or for that matter delhi stand way ahead..

Most Importantly currently I see this city as a good place for investment in property as well...

happy reading and a Great day ahead...
